More Terrorists In Our Skies?

Many thought we had arrived at a point where airline security was at its highest and there could be no means by which someone could hijack or seriously endanger a flight in progress. However, we are now finding that is simply not the case.

British officials recently uncovered a terrorist plot to carry explosives onto planes in the form of liquids. In light of this new information, all liquid items have been banned from carry-ons. This, of course, is very inconvenient to the traveler, but they must understand that these procedures are for their safety. It has also been rumored that the Middle Eastern terrorists are now recruiting women, due to their innocent appearances. New information of this nature has put all airports on guard in a matter of days.

On Wednesday, August 16, a plane traveling from London to Dulles National Airport in Washington, D.C. was redirected to Logan Airport in Boston, MA, after an incident with a Middle-Eastern female. Fighter jets escorted the plane into Boston and the FBI, along with other officials, then proceeded to question the passengers on suspicious activities. In the end, the lady was pronounced claustrophobic and she had merely been reacting to the crowded circumstances one finds in any type of aircraft. Although all ended well, it was enough to instill a just fear in an entire nation.

On Thursday, August 17, an airport in West Virginia found explosive residue in several bottles being carried on by another lady of Middle Eastern descent. She is being questioned as I write this article.

In summary, I pray that the terrorists problems in our country will be resolved and that we will not have to suffer a 9/11 attack again. We should keep our eyes and ears open about what is happening with airport security, but we should not let that frighten us from flying because, as always, God is in control.
