You will probably notice a new type of article is featured in this issue. It’s called: Searching for Truth. However, there are some items about this new column which set it apart from the rest. You see, we, as the Virtue staff, wanted a way for us to discuss a political issue, news event, etc, from different viewpoints (which is easy for us to do). One bonus for making a column like this, is that the fruits of that array of viewpoints could uncover some new truths to the matter, which otherwise might not have surfaced.
Our own term for this, ‘commentary panel’ if you may, is a ‘roundtable discussion.’ Though at first is may sound silly, it represents what we are doing quite well. Picture in your mind, a round table, and seated at it are people in a heated discussion. This discussion carries all around the table, and everyone gets in his or her say.
This is just like our new column. Although are not seated altogether at a table, but rather spread apart over thousands of miles, the discussion still remains.
With that said, I thought I would close this introduction to Searching for Truth with our goals.
- First and foremost, we want this to be a device for us to discuss a topic and uncover different aspects of which otherwise might not have been found, and thus better inform you, the reader.
- Secondly, we want to make it something different – set apart from the common articles and columns.
- And last but not least, we want to have fun, and do something productive at the same time.
I hope you will enjoy reading this new ‘breed’ of writing, and at the same time, learn some new things as well. So head on over now and read the very first installment of Searching for Truth, which will discuss the issue of Abdul Rahmam. Thank you for taking the time to read Virtue!
